Platform of PLATFORMS

RIKEN has platforms that promote cutting-edge research in various fields. TRIP (Transformative Research Innovation Platform of RIKEN platforms) is a challenging project to create an innovative research platform that effectively generates new fields of knowledge across research fields by cross-linking the cutting-edge research platforms.
By utilizing the "platform of platforms" that only RIKEN can provide, we will pioneer the knowledge that our planet and humanity require beyond the boundaries of research fields and paradigms and provide it widely to global society as an engine of social change.

CoRe: Data and Computational Sciences Integration Research Program

RIKEN has platforms that promote cutting-edge research in various fields. TRIP (Transformative Research Innovation Platform of RIKEN platforms) is a challenging project to create an innovative research platform that effectively generates new fields of knowledge across research fields by cross-linking the cutting-edge research platforms (including supercomputer Fugaku, quantum computer, SPring-8/X-ray free electron laser facility SACLA, and bio-resource projects).
Specifically, platforms (1) High-quality data acquisition and integration, (2) Pioneering prediction science with AI x Mathematical Science, and (3) Expansion of computationally viable region will be developed and linked to function as a research DX infrastructure that contributes to solving human problems, and to promote research that contributes to the creation of new value by utilizing these platforms.

DMP: RIKEN Program for Drug Discovery and Medical Technology Platforms

To solve the “shortage of drug targets” which is becoming fundamental and serious issue in pharmaceutical industries, we will develop robust research platforms that generate continuously candidate drug targets by combining the sate-of-the-art life science research of RIKEN and also external academia with RIKEN’s supercomputer Fugaku, experimental automation technology, and AI technology to create cutting-edge drug discovery seeds and new drug modalities.
Moreover, by implementing research outcomes faster and more in society through collaboration with RIKEN internal and external stakeholders, we anticipate to acquire licensing fees and a return on earnings. We aim to build a revamped ecosystem to autonomously strengthen basic research and contribute in upstream area of whole process to improve entirely drug discovery capability in Japan.
