RIKEN has platforms that carry out cutting-edge research in various fields. TRIP (Transformative Research Innovation Platform of RIKEN platforms) is a challenging project aiming to create innovative research platforms that effectively generate new fields of knowledge across research fields by cross-linking cutting-edge research platforms.
The expansion of computationally viable regions will be realized with the full use of high-performance supercomputers, artificial intelligence, and quantum computers, advancing the data transformation of scientific research. This is the key to the creation of new knowledge with the acceleration and optimization of research in all research fields, which could not be achieved otherwise. We expect that the TRIP system will enable the acquisition of a large amount of data in multiple layers; the development of algorithms that take full advantage of leading-edge artificial intelligence technology and mathematics; and will be able to comprehensively identify the causality in the scientific fields of life science, mathematics, computation, physics, material science, environmental science and others by leveraging quantum-classical hybrid computation.
In this way, we aim for high-quality data acquisition; AI and mathematical science; and the expansion of computationally viable regions to connect “predictions” of the future to “control” of the future. We will accelerate research that contributes to the creation of new value by utilizing this "platform of platforms" that only RIKEN can provide.
